Data Entry Clerk

The Data Entry Control Clerk IV will work in the License and Statistics Section and be responsible for the preparation and entry of recreational surveys conducted under the North Carolina Coastal Angling Program (CAP). The CAP program utilizes mail surveys and angler intercept interviews to gather data used to meet fisheries management needs of the state, interstate, and federal agencies. The primary purposes of this position are to: perform data entry and quality control for a multitude of projects with differing levels of priority and deadlines; process a large volume of recreational surveys (both incoming and outgoing); provide back-up coverage for fishing license sales office; order survey supplies and monitor inventory levels; and respond to customer questions, requests, and complaints in a timely manner. This position requires strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, and superior time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadline and adapt to changing priorities. This position may also aid other positions in report writing, editing, and data requests. Work schedule Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  1. Extensive data entry and quality control experience required.
  2. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  3. Experience using Microsoft Access and/or web-based applications for data entry.
  4. Experience providing customer service to the public.

A skills test will be administered to all interviewed applicants.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills, and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
