The Department of Strategic Communication is recruiting for a fulltime Tenure Track Faculty member to teach in its Department of Strategic Communication. This appointment will begin in the fall semester of 2017. The candidate will teach (3) Strategic Communications undergraduate courses per semester. Interested candidates should have a strong desire to advance the mission of the School of Global Journalism & Communication, at one of the Nation's largest Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).
Teaching a range of undergraduate courses in Strategic Communication; mentoring undergraduate students; providing academic advising; overseeing and supervising the Strategy Shop; engaging in research/ creative activities; participating in professional and academic organizations; preparing and reviewing exercises; preparing and grading quizzes and exams; submitting textbook requisitions and course syllabus; student advising; attending faculty meetings; utilizing Starfish Reports to input grade submission; updating procedures and resource information and other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have achieved a Master's degree in Strategic Communications or closely allied field from an accredited college or university.
A Ph.D. in Strategic Communication or a closely related field; experience teaching interactive public relations online and the ability to integrate traditional and digital teaching styles.
Professional experience in Strategic Communication; the ability to integrate theory and practice into lesson plans; excellent oral and written communication skills; organization skills; ability to work and communicate with all industry constituencies and must have strong interdisciplinary content knowledge.
