Data Warehousing Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:

Analyze, define, maintain and manage business data contained within the enterprise data warehouse.  Map and verify data from existing data sources into the warehouse, ensuring the integrity of the data. Certify all the data in the warehouse prior to populating production.

 

 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and document the use of corporate data contained in the data warehouse.  Define and document data definition for information contained in the warehouse.  Maintain the metadata contained within the warehouse.
  • Research, adopt and promote industry standard data definitions whenever possible.  Champion high-quality data across all existing systems – from repositories to reports.
  • Map, translate and transform data from existing enterprise operational data stores into the data warehouse.
  • Support the business and technical communities through their adoption process to migrate existing applications to use the data warehouse. 
  • Translate business and production requirements from the business community for the technical team. Work with the business community to validate data extract designs and methodologies to ensure consistent data extraction and criteria.
  • Serve as a communication link and business translator between end-user community and the corporate technical resources.
  • Work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems as it relates to the information contained in the data warehouse.
  • Participate in department initiatives and projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
     

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three to five years of database management systems, business intelligence tools and systems
  • Data warehouse or data mart experience
  • Proven track record involving system analysis, data engineering, or equivalent, with project management experience 
     

 

Preferred Education, Additional Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master’s in Business Administration or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field
  • 2 or more years of Health Insurance Industry experience
  • Experience with data warehouse, ETL and BI tools, including SAS, Tableau, Data Stage, and/or Business Objects
  • HIAA Certification
  • Knowledge of the LRSP, ODS and Facets systems

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

  • Data models, data dictionaries and metadata repositories
  • Quality metrics, such as risk management, cost benefit analysis and change management.
  • Experience with various Business Intelligence tools
  • Knowledge of the EDR, as well as LRSP and Facets.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets
  • Good business acumen and political savvy
  • Knowledge of business process improvement techniques and strategies
